As Wimbledon 2013 kicked off yesterday, the North West looks forward to welcoming some of the world’s finest tennis players as final preparations are put in place for this year’s Boodles Classique at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Knutsford.
It was only seven months ago that Boodles confirmed The Mere as its new host venue for the glamorous event for the next two years and the event is shaping up to be the best yet. Corporate sponsors will arrive at midday on Thursday to enjoy three days of exhibition tennis against the glorious backdrop of the Mere’s lake in 150 acres of private Cheshire parkland.
Described as the North West’s most elegant garden party, this year’s event is headlined by Goran Ivanisevic who will be joined by Richard Krajicek, Mark Philippoussis, Peter McNamara, Mikael Pernfors and Anders Jarryd. The event will also be featuring wheelchair exhibition tennis and welcomes Paralympic Gold Medallist, Lee Pearson CBE, who is representing Enable Sport, this year’s Official Tournament Charity.
Having worked with the resort for a year and a half now, it’s easy to see why this venue is chosen time and again for large high profile events. The professionalism and attention to detail is second to none and as we walked around the set-up area this morning with the resort’s CEO, Mark Boler, we could see that he takes pride in ensuring every detail of the event preparation is on track.
We wish everyone the best of luck as the resort stands by to welcome some 800 plus guests over the next few days – we look forward to sharing the pictures of what looks to be a top tennis tournament!
