Tennis stars to spring into Knutsford later this summer

Rumour has it that spring has finally arrived here in Knutsford (well, it’s on its way anyway!) and that means people can turn their attention to the start of the tennis season.

We marked the occasion at last night’s event at Boodles in Manchester, announcing the new tennis line-up for this year’s Boodles Classique, which is taking place for the first time at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa. Boodles Director, Jody Wainwright, was joined by guest of honour, Richard Krajicek, who officially launched the tournament and announced that 2001 Wimbledon Champion, Goran Ivanisevic, will lead this year’s event from June 27th and 29th.

Wainwright was also joined by Paralympic Gold Medallist, Lee Pearson CBE, who was representing Enable Sport, this year’s Official Tournament Charity. Enable Sport works to give disabled athletes a chance to be able to compete by providing support and equipment.

This has certainly given us something to look forward to, with the arrival of a host of tennis stars here in Knutsford who, we also heard, like a night out over the weekend! So all recommendations for on the best places to go locally; keep a look out – it won’t be too difficult given the height of some of these tennis players!
