Sports personalities bring luxury brands alive

This weekend saw the Boodles tennis even return to The Mere Resort and Spa for its second year- now officially called Boodles Tennis at The Mere. There was a bigger and more glamorous presence than ever.

The tennis line-up was bigger and better – still including the regulars with 2001 Wimbledon Champion, Goran Ivanisevic, and Peter McNamara – finally, and certainly not the least – this year had the addition of Henri Leconte.

I think it’s fair to say that Henri stole the show, with some of the most engaging and amusing performances throughout the three day event, but without doubt taking the spotlight during the DJ Tennis on the Saturday night.

We had the opportunity to host media interviews with all the players and then share dinner with a great media table with some of the region’s best journalists. There was much entertainment on the night with a silent auction, live music and considerable dancing.

However, seeing Henri next to the Boodles display engaging the guests with some of the most beautiful diamonds we’ve certainly seen – including a ring for £1.25 million – we can certainly see the value that sports personalities bring to luxury brands.

Apparently the stars made an appearance in Knutsford last Thursday night – we’re not naming any venues of course but it’s certainly one of Knutsford’s favourite drinking spots.

Make sure you keep a look out next year as there’s a rumour they’ll be returning again.
