A maternity boutique is not the most likely place you would expect to run into the Rt Hon George Osborn MP.
Yesterday however, the Chancellor and MP for Tatton was visiting Knutsford’s latest shop, The Pudding Club, on a strictly business basis. Indeed he was there to officially open the new store, which he did with much pride as he congratulated Alex Macleod, founder of the Pudding Club. Alex emailed the chancellor when she opened the store last year and he was struck by her ‘ballsy and determined’ approach and it was this passion and determination that inspired us when she approached us to launch the brand.
The idea behind the store came when Alex was pregnant with her son Dexter and was fantastically underwhelmed with the maternity clothes that were on offer. With a serious career under her belt already as a Big Four trained accountant, Alex had spent five years advising owner managed businesses in a Manchester city centre practice and has also worked in several commercial roles.
But her passion was always fashion, and she described opening The Pudding Club as a “dream come true” – determined that maternity clothes can be stylish. The store is veritable emporium of maternity style brands. Many of which can’t even be bought in this country.
Alex’ vision for delivering beautiful clothes and excellent customer service is both infectious and inspiring. Her passion and determination is precisely the prerequisite we look for in the launch of a new brand and the ideas are well and truly flowing… so it looks like a Happy New Year for The Pudding Club thanks to an official launch from the Chancellor!
