Firework PR successfully helped launch the newly developed Mere Golf Resort & Spa, over performing on both national and regional media targets.


Firework PR was appointed by The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in a competitive pitch to re-launch the existing golf and country club as a destination resort, following an investment of £15 million into the business. The initial PR campaign looked to raise awareness of the resort on a national level, over an initial six month period.


Firework PR developed a creative PR campaign involving a launch and momentum strategy to drive awareness, the implementation of an intensive media engagement programme, establishing a robust press office for rapid response and media opportunities and re-igniting relationships with local and regional media.

An intense run-up-to-launch period ensured that the key target audiences – regional, national, corporate hospitality, events, business travellers, golfers and consumers – were aware of the forthcoming launch of the new resort.

Creative PR ideas included a ‘taster’ drop-off to all local radio stations on the day of launch, preview ‘chef table’ invitations to key media prior to resort launch as well as the creation of a comprehensive media pack and image bank which was distributed to all key media ahead of launch. Underpinning all activity was a core Press Office which was established for launch and proactively created resort review opportunities, managed all media enquiries and ensured a steady stream of news communicated the latest activity and developments at the resort.


The launch campaign alone delivered over 50 pieces of coverage, over 10 media reviews of the resort including The Sun, Mail on Sunday’s ‘You’ Magazine and Metro on a national level and at a regional level including Cheshire Life, Manchester Evening News as examples. Over 30 proactive features were targeted putting The Mere on the map to all audiences.
